Tom’s Weekly Tips, Links and Tidbits Newsletter because Wednesday 18th July 2012 G’day, I hope this finds you fit and well, Not Average? Then We’ll Have To Drug You or Kill YouYou are not “normal”. Don’t buy the fact that you or your kids need drugs because you are different or because your kid loses attention in a boring classroom because the teacher does not know how to teach or because they are given the impossible task of 1 person teaching up to 35 kids, each of whom has a different learning speed. Drugs are NOT the answer. But changing the system because it is broken would tread on too many toes. Another solution currently being employed is to kill people whose differences fit a certain pattern. Regradless of whether or not they have committed a crime. Needless to say, being different is reason enough alone for me to be particularly unenthusiastic about this practice, let alone me being anti-dictatorships and the practice being unlawful and unconstitutional. If you do not think a leader should be able to kill anyone he pleases, just because they fit certain criteria, might be a good idea to sign this petition. He was 16 years old and an American citizen. He had committed no crime and was charged with no wrongdoing, but he was killed without trial or due process — by our military and the CIA. Abdulrahman Al-Aulaqi was the innocent victim of an out-of-control CIA and Pentagon “targeted killing” program. This shadowy program started by targeting those on secret “kill lists.” Then, it was expanded to target those who fit a specific “pattern of behavior” — even if their identities were unknown. And now, outrageously, the CIA is counting “all military-age males” in specific areas as targets unless intelligence proves them innocent — after they're dead. Help stop this unlawful, un-American program. Tell the top lawyers at the CIA and the Pentagon to do the right thing: End illegal targeted killings

Most people are the victim of programming to follow authority rather than question it. Fortunately for me my mother taught me very early on to question rather than blindly accept authority. Time and events have shown that to have been one of the more enlightening lessons I have learned. I can but encourage you to look rather than listen. Look at the results. Look at the products. Look at the production record of individuals, groups and governments. You will unfortunately find that there are a great many destructive influences in this society. There are a great many vested interests that originate and perpetuate myths and lies to preserve their power and profits. They are not just the illegal drug pushers and dealers and the organised criminal elements but also seemingly respectable people, groups and even governments. The man who walks into a bank with a gun is an overt criminal. What we are not taught, but should be, is that very few criminal are overt. Most are covert. They hide behind masks of respectability and promise to do good but their products are destructive. They market vaccines that they know do not work and contribute to autism. They suppress any data and attack any person or thing that would upset the status quo. I could go on but you’ve got the point. Please do your homework and make informed decisions rather than blindly accepting things for what they are promoted as being. LARKA Canadian female libertarian wrote a lot of letters to the Canadian government, complaining about the treatment of captive insurgents (terrorists) being held in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities. She demanded a response to her letter correspondence. She received back the following reply: National Defence Headquarters Dear Concerned Citizen Thank you for your recent letter expressing your profound concern of treatment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists captured by Canadian Forces who were subsequently transferred to the Afghanistan Government and are currently being held by Afghan officials in Afghanistan National orrectional System facilities. Our administration takes these matters seriously and your opinions were heard loud and clear here in Ottawa. You will be pleased to learn, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself, we are creating a new department here at the Department of National Defence, to be called 'Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers' program or LARK for short. In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to divert one terrorist and place him in your personal care. Your personal detainee has been selected and is scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence in Toronto next Monday. Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud (you can just call him Ahmed) is to be cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your letter of complaint! It will likely be necessary for you to hire some assistant caretakers. We will conduct weekly inspections to ensure that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with those you so strongly recommended in your letter. Although Ahmed is a sociopath and extremely violent, we hope that your sensitivity to what you described as his ’attitudinal problem’ will help him overcome these character flaws. Perhaps you are correct in describing these problems as mere cultural differences. We understand that you plan to offer counselling and home schooling. Your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or nail clippers. We advise that you do not ask him to demonstrate these skills at your next yoga group. Please advise any Jewish friends, neighbours or relatives about your house guest, as he might get agitated or even violent, but we are sure you can reason with him. He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those items locked up, unless (in your opinion) this might offend him. Ahmed will not wish to interact with you or your daughters (except sexually) since he views all females as a subhuman form of property thereby having no rights, including refusal of his sexual demands. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him and he has been known to show violent tendencies around women who fail to comply with the new dress code that he will “recommend” as more appropriate attire. I’m sure you will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the burka over time. Just remember that it is all part of “respecting his culture and religious beliefs” as described in your letter. Thanks again for your concern. We truly appreciate it when folks like you keep us informed of the proper way to do our job and care for our fellow man. You take good care of Ahmed and remember we’ll be watching. Good luck and May God bless you. Cordially |
The Lethal Presidency of Barack ObamaBarack Obama has personally ordered the deaths of thousands of individuals, one by one, to be killed by America’s deadly drones. Now, a five-part feature in the August 2012 issue of Esquire by staff writer Tom Junod poses questions, that, in effect, indict Barack Obama as the war criminal he is, and that the UN Special Rapporteur on Extra-judicial Killings and Jimmy Carter have charged he is: “The targeted-killing program is a vision—a vision of how war could be and never has been. It is a war of individuals instead of armies. It is intelligence instead of brute force. It is a war of both technological precision and moral discrimination. It is war as an alternative to war. It saves many lives by ending one life. But when war stops being war, does it become something like murder?” “The counterterrorism advisor [John Brennan] acknowledges that other governments either have or want the technology—the drones—that we are using. Given all the work of the President has done to establish the legal and moral precedent for targeted killing, is this a good idea? One official sees the logical extension of the program: ’Ask the administration if the President himself is targetable.’” “John Brennan presents each lethal decision as something like a symposium. "We discuss. We debate. We disagree." But there have been thousands killed on the direct orders of the President. How can each death possibly be the end product of rigorous review when there are so many of them? “The U.S. invaded Iraq on the pretext of evidence that was fallacious, if not dishonest. The U.S. detained the "worst of the worst" in Guantanamo for years before releasing six hundred of them, uncharged, which amounts to the admission of a terrible mistake. The lethal Presidency is making decisions to kill based on intelligence from the same sources. These decisions are final, and no one will ever be let go. Six hundred men. What if they had never been detained? What if, under the precepts of the lethal Presidency, they had simply been killed? “The President asks us to trust him to use his lethal powers responsibly. Even when for the most part we have no idea who we are killing or why. We have been asked to put our faith in the President, in the administration, and in the "robust oversight" of Congress. But last fall, the administration killed a sixteen-year-old American boy, without being held accountable. Was that a failure of the system or was that how the system is supposed to work?” |

Do Something On Your Major Goal Each DayWas the advice given by an interent success. He copped a roasting post from someone who had spent $50,000 on internet marketing advice over ten years and had not been a success. Here is the post from Jeff: and here is my response: Jeff, great post. Anatoly, sure, Jeff could have added that the baby steps need to be taken towards a clearly defined, written goal and not to go chasing after every new gadget or idea that is oversold and over promoted. He could have also added that research show it takes about 10,000 hours to become world class at most things. Playing an instrument, mastering a sport or being an overnight success in the internet marketing space. And my take on it is that being a success in the internet marketing space requires a diligence to pursue a proven path and the ability to adapt to change more than many other endeavours. It is not an easy, walk in the park gig. Sure, after you have put in the hard yards you may or may not have the “bright idea” that is the “next big thing”. I have not been bright enough or smart enough to do that yet in my area. But I am still working at it. And that gives me a million percent better chance of coming up with it than complaining about the fact that it hasn’t happened yet and blaming others for my lack of a bright idea. What’s that old saying? “Winners never quit and quitters never win.” Every day each of us has that choice to make. Whether we will keep trying or join the quitters camp. You know, there is destructive impatience and constructive impatience. The constructive way to be impatient necessitates you asking the right questions, questions like, “How could I learn faster what it takes to be successful?” “How could I shortcut this learning process?” “Who has attained what I seek and how could I learn what they now know?” Change the thoughts you have, alter the questions you ask yourself and you will refocus on that path which will lead where you want to be. |
