G’day,
Here is a bunch of what crossed my digital desk over the last week. I trust you get something from it and hope you have a great week!
This first is an extract from a newsletter I receive from Jimmy at honestE online. I think it sounds advice.
Dear Tom,
We all have our strengths and weaknesses in life and business, don’t we?
And sometimes our weaknesses become BAD HABITS we repeat over and over again--as if we have no control!
Albert Einstein said it perfectly...
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
Personally, I’ve struggled most of my life with a decent dose of perfectionism and a touch of irrational anxiety... almost as HABIT.
I can also be a bit of an amateur hypochondriac when flu season rolls around each year.
I tend to get sidetracked easily -- even when I need to accomplish something specific and on a deadline.
The fact is, THOUGHTS can become unproductive HABITS -- just as ACTIONS can!
Pretty common stuff many of us humans suffer from, I know.
Yet somehow I pull it all off and get things done (pretty darned well in fact) in spite of myself.
And really, you’d never know any of this about me unless I told you, and I just did.
But THIS YEAR, it all changed in a BIG way.
Actually, it’s been nothing short of miraculous.
Even my wife has noticed I’m not the “same guy.”
The other day she joked, “who stole my husband and who are YOU?!”
Today, I’ll share my “simple” discovery with you.
One of the KEY factors to improving our lives is to clearly recognize what we do well, and to be honest with ourselves on what we can improve upon.
Write it all down, your strengths and weaknesses in the areas of your life and business that are most important to you.
The next all-powerful step you can take is to create and DESIGN daily rituals or routines that will automatically address and improve upon your weaknesses day-by-day, brick-by-brick.
And you’ll get where you want to be faster than ever before, if you design rituals you actually ENJOY.
Routines, rituals, whatever you call them, I’m actually talking about the AWESOME power of HABIT.
Before you know it, new habits take root and replace old ones.
All of the sudden you find yourself more productive, healthy, happy, confident, calm, loving... AUTOMATICALLY.
