Toms Tips, Links and Tidbits Newsletter Wednesday 28st July 2010 G'day, Hope this finds you fit and well. I read yet again this week how a positive attitude and humour can have remarkable health benefits and on the other hand stress has extremely negative effects on your health. I maintain a separate email list of people with whom I exchange jokes but I thought if it's OK with you I will include one or two each week in here. Oh, and if you want to receive more, drop me an email and I will add your email address to my jokes list. More and more over the last 10 years I have become aware that the two main political parties apparently give a choice but in reality or two sides of the same coin. I have been wishing this last month that there was an alternative political party. One that was not another tool of the power elite. One that was genuinely for the "man in the street", you and me. Well, seems like I got my wish! Check out the Australian Sovereignty Party at http://www.sovereigntyparty.org.au/the-party.html. Enjoy this week's selection of information morsels and have a great week! Basic Computer User | Advanced Computer User | Health | Humour | Other | Videos

I am told they no longer teach breathing techniques in pre-natal classes. Just insanity to get more girls to take drugs during childbirth. If you know anyone who is pregnant, suggest they get a qualified mid-wife to teach them how to breathe through contractions. |
If you know anyone with Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease... Recent clinical trials on a natural flower extract establish that can halt dementia and rejuvenate cognitive function. This extract derived from the snowdrop, daffodil and spider lily has been traditionally used in Eastern Europe to treat a variety of ailments. But latest research has shown its greatest promise lies with its beneficial effects for people suffering Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Researchers found that this natural extract works by blocking the action of cholinesterase - allowing for greater levels of acetylcholine – and boosts the production of new acetylcholine neurotransmitters in the brain. And that means it has powerful potential to slow cognitive decline to a virtual standstill. |
Excitotoxins When a food product is 99 percent pure MSG it is called “monosodium glutamate” by the FDA and must be labeled as such. However, when a food product contains less than 99 percent MSG, the FDA doesn’t require that the MSG be identified. So it often appears on labels in various disguised forms, such as “hydrolyzed vegetable protein,” “spices” and “natural flavoring.” Here’s a quick list of potentially suspect ingredients to watch for (when in doubt, call the manufacturer to inquire). * Ingredients that may contain 30 to 60 percent MSG: hydrolyzed vegetable protein; hydrolyzed protein; hydrolyzed plant protein; plant protein extract; sodium caseinate; calcium caseinate; yeast extract; textured protein; autolyzed yeast; hydrolyzed oat flour; Accent. * Ingredients that may contain 12 to 40 percent MSG: malt extract; malt flavoring; bouillon; broth; stock; natural flavoring; natural beef or chicken flavoring; seasoning; spices. * Ingredients that may contain some MSG: carrageenan; enzymes; soy protein concentrate; soy protein isolate; whey protein concentrate; some soy milk. Your Credit Rating It is advisable to check your credit rating on a regular basis and ensure there has been no fraudulent activity. Simply making enquiries with different lenders (without lodging an application) may show on your report. This could impact your credit rating and lenders may perceive you as a credit risk. In addition, defaults, unpaid accounts and late payment of bills remain on your credit history for five years. To order your credit report, please visit http://www.privacy.gov.au/faqs/ypr/q17.html |
