Windows 8: Will you need new hardware? The good news, according to Microsoft, is that any PC that can run Windows 7 will be able to run Windows 8. That means older netbooks with Atom processors and just 1GB of RAM can run Windows 8. In the enterprise, it means that if you decide to upgrade your fleet, it's likely that you won't be forced into a hardware refresh. http://www.itnews.com.au/News/289371,windows-8-will-you-need-new-hardware.aspx |

www.nutritiondata.com is a FABULOUS resource.Someone just asked me about rice noodles. My opinion is that they are a waste of space in a high nutrition diet so I went there to check it out. Have a look at the nutrition completeness score of 11 for rice noodles here compared to, say, broccoli at 92 here. Why waste space on noodles when you can grab some broccoli? So, three times the calories and, being generous, about a tenth the nutrition. No wonder it's so easy to put on weight trying to get adequate nutrition from nutrient deficient foods. |

The "chemical imbalance" mythThe idea that depression and other mental health conditions are caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain is so deeply ingrained in our psyche that it seems almost sacrilegious to question it. http://chriskresser.com/the-chemical-imbalance-myth |
Are Your Doctor’s Hands Poisoning You?If you are not cautious and if you don’t speak up for yourself, your doctor and other health workers could easily be infecting you - particularly in the following three ways. http://www.losethebackpain.com/blog/2012/01/09/are-your-doctors-hands-poisoning-you/ |
Canola OilCanola is genetically modified rape seed oil - a poison. It is cheap so many manufacturers are turning to it. It's not easy to find bread made without it. Not that we should be eating bread, just saying. "Rapeseed oil is poisonous to living things and is an excellent insect repellent. I have been using it (in very diluted form, as per instructions) to kill the aphids on my roses for the last two years. It works very well; it suffocates them. Ask for it at your nursery. Rape is an oil that is used as a lubricant, fuel, soap and synthetic rubber base and as an illuminate for color pages in magazines. It is an industrial oil. It is not a food. Rape oil, it seems, causes emphysema, respiratory distress, anemia, constipation, irritability, and blindness in animals and humans. Rape oil was widely used in animal feeds in England and Europe between 1986 and 1991, when it was thrown out. Remember the "Mad Cow disease" scare, when millions of cattle in the UK were slaughtered in case of infecting humans? Cattle were being fed on a mixture containing material from dead sheep, and sheep suffer from a disease called "scrapie". It was thought this was how "Mad Cow" began and started to infiltrate the human chain. What is interesting is that when rape oil was removed from animal feed, 'scrapie' disappeared. We also haven't seen any further reports of "Mad Cow" since rape oil was removed from the feed." http://www.tetrahedron.org/articles/health_risks/canola_oil.html |

Great News About Pomegranate Juice for Arthritis SufferersYou may already know that pomegranates are good for your heart but new news is that they could have a positive impact on reducing inflammation and joint pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis. Studies have been done in the past to examine the effects of pomegranate juice on arthritis and inflammation... however they were done on rats, not humans. A recent pilot study, published in The Israeli Medical Association Journal, researchers recruited eight participants diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. For twelve weeks each was given 10ml/day of pomegranate extract. At the beginning and at the end of the study the researchers assessed the participants' joint status and serum oxidative status. By the end of the study, the pomegranate extract helped alleviate the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis - on average, tender joint count reduced by a whopping 62 percent! They also significantly reduced their serum oxidative status, which is highly indicative of a reduction in the body's inflammatory response. As well, participants reduced the composite Disease Activity Index (DAS28) of arthritis by 17 percent. The study's authors added, "Dietary supplementation with pomegranates may be a useful complementary strategy to attenuate clinical symptoms in RA patients." This is exciting news for anyone with chronic joint pain. If you suffer from arthritis or similar pain, there really is nothing to lose in trying pomegranate juice to see if it works for your body. Just keep in mind, most juices are quite high in sugar. So buying pomegranates gives you the nourishments without the sugar hit. |

THE IRISH CHRISTENINGPaddy's pregnant sister was in a terrible car accident and went into a deep coma. After nearly six months, she woke up and saw that she was no longer pregnant. Frantically she asked the doctor about her baby. The doctor replied, "You had twins, a boy and a girl. The babies are fine. However they were poorly at birth and had to be christened immediately, so your brother Paddy came in and named them." The woman thought to herself, 'Oh suffering Jesus, no, not me brother. He's a clueless idiot!' Expecting the worst, she asked the doctor, "Well, what's my daughter's name?" "Denise." said the doctor. The new mother was somewhat relieved and thought to herself, 'Wow, that's a really beautiful name. I guess I was wrong about my brother, I really like Denise.' Then she asked, "What's the boy's name?" The doctor replied "Denephew." |
Shipboard RomanceEd and Carolyn met while on a singles cruise and Ed fell head over heels for her. When they discovered they lived in the same city only a few miles apart Ed was ecstatic. He immediately started asking her out when they got home. Within a couple of weeks, Ed had taken Carolyn to dance clubs, restaurants, concerts, movies, and museums. Ed became convinced that Carolyn was indeed his soul mate and true love. Every date seemed better than the last. On the one-month anniversary of their first dinner on the cruise ship, Ed took Carolyn to a fine restaurant. While having cocktails and waiting for their salad, Ed said, "I guess you can tell I'm very much in love with you. I'd like a little serious talk before our relationship continues to the next stage. So, before I get a box out of my jacket and ask you a life changing question, it's only fair to warn you, I'm a total golf nut. I play golf, I read about golf, I watch golf on TV. In short, I eat, sleep, and breathe golf. If that's going to be a problem for us, you'd better say so now!" Carolyn took a deep breath and responded, "Ed that certainly won't be a problem. I love you as you are and I love golf too; but, since we're being totally honest with each other, you need to know that for the last five years I've been a hooker." Ed said, "I bet it's because you're not keeping your wrists straight when you hit the ball. |
God and Adam and EveOne day God said to Adam, "Adam, I Want you to do Something for me." Adam said, "Gladly, Lord, what do You want me to do?" God said, "Go down into that valley." Adam said, "What's a valley?" God explained it to him. Then God said, "Cross the river." Adam said, "What's a river?" God explained that to him, and then said, "Go over to the hill......." Adam said, "What is a hill?" So, God explained to Adam what a hill was. He told Adam, "On the other side of the hill you will find a cave..." Adam said, "What's a cave?" After God explained, he said, "In the cave you will find a Woman." Adam said, "What's a woman?" So God explained that to him, too. Then, God said, "I want you to reproduce." Adam said, "How do I do that?" God first said (under his breath), "Geez....." And then, just like everything else, God explained that to Adam, as well. So, Adam goes down into the valley, across the river, and over the hill, into the cave, and finds the woman. In about five minutes, he was back. God, his patience wearing thin, said angrily, "What is it now?" And Adam said "What's a headache?" |
To Whom Do You Listen?Let me tell you about a little girl who was born into a very poor family in a shack in the backwoods of Tennessee. She was the 20th of 22 children, prematurely born and frail. Her survival was doubtful. When she was 4 years old, she had double pneumonia and scarlet fever-a deadly combination that left her with a paralysed and useless left leg. She had to wear an iron leg brace. Yet she was fortunate in having a mother who encouraged her. Well, this mother told her little girl, who was very bright, that despite the brace and the leg, she could do whatever she wanted to do with her life. She told her that all she needed to do was to have faith, persistence, courage and an indomitable spirit. So at nine years of age, the little girl removed the leg brace and took the step the doctors told her she would never take normally. In four years, she developed a rhythmic stride, which was a medical wonder. Then this girl got the notion, the incredible notion that she would like to be the worlds greatest runner. Now, what could she mean -- be a runner with a leg like that ? At age 13, she entered a race. She came in last-----way, way last. She entered every race in high school, and in every race she came in last. Everyone begged her to quit. However, one day, she came in next to last. And then there came a day when she won a race. From then on, Wilma Rudolph won every race she entered. Wilma went to Tennessee State University, where she met a coach named Ed Temple. Coach Temple saw the indomitable spirit of the girl, that she was a believer and that she had great natural talent. He trained her so well that in 1960 she went to the Olympic Games in Rome. There she was pitted against the greatest female runner of the day, a German girl named Jutta Heine. Nobody had ever beaten Jutta. But in the 100 metre sprint Wilma Rudolph won. She beat Jutta again in the 200 metres.Wilma had just earned 2 Olympic gold medals. Finally came the 400 metre relay. It would be Wilma against Jutta once again. The first 2 runners on Wilma's team made perfect handoffs with the baton. But when the 3rd handed the baton to Wilma, she was so excited she dropped it, and Wilma saw Jutta taking off down the track. It was impossible that anybody could catch this fleet and nimble girl. But Wilma did just that! Wilma Rodolph had earned her 3rd Olympic Gold Medal. That day she made history as she became the first woman ever to win three gold medals in the same Olympic Games. And they said she would never walk again......... ! Do you have someone telling you that you cannot do or achieve something that you really want to do? Well, who do you believe? |
